GIRL TALK - All Day

Today, one of my favorite mash-up artists released his newest album. If you like really any type of music, Girl Talk is bound to snag a sample of one of your favorite songs and combine it with something else you would never think would go together and creates a magical track. Put on any one of his songs and you will instantly find your head bobbing and yourself singing along. Its everything that you’ve heard before but completely turned around and made into something completely new.

The genius behind Girl Talk is Gregg Gillis. He first started creating these mashups back in 2002 with Secret Diary and then released Unstoppable in 2004. But it wasn’t until 2006 when he released Night Ripper that I think he really got into the scene and started making some amazing collaborations. Some of my favorites from that album are: Once Again, That’s My DJ, Smash Your Head, Hand Clap, Double Pump, and everyone’s favorite Bounce That. Then in 2008 he released his fourth album Feed The Animals which featured tracks such as: Play Your Part part 1 and 2.

Back in 2008 I spent most of my summer and fall following Girl Talk around. I saw him play at the Belly Up in Aspen, at Lollapalooza in Chicago, at the Ogden Theater in Denver on Halloween, at Keystone Resort in Colorado, and at Monolith Festival at Red Rocks. Every show I went to was soooo much fun. Gillis is so full of enthusiasm and you can tell that he really enjoys mixing together these songs to create something that everybody loves. He encourages people to come on stage and dance along with him as he produces these beautiful mashups. And after the show, he is more than willing to meet with his fans and say hey and take pictures.

Today Girl Talk dropped his fifth album called ALL DAY which I have been listening to non-stop. Its been 2 years and he’s still got it. This new albums mixes and matches some new beats including popular songs that are on the radio today as well as the good oldies. I forgot how much fun it was to listen to Girl Talk. It’s really great if you’ve got music ADD and cant sit and listen to one song all the way through. Its just a great collabo of everything that you love and more. Some of my favorites from the new cd are: That’s Right, This Is The Remix, On and On, Get It Get It, Jump On Stage, Let It Out, and Steady Shock. Ok Ok I just love the entire cd. So go download it.
